OEC 2015


The Environment factors are root cause of a significant burden of death, disease and disability- globally and particularly in developing countries. Hey range from poor water quantity and access, vector-borne disease and air pollution to toxic chemical exposures, climate change and degraded urban environments. The resulting impacts are estimated to cause over 25% of death and disease globally. Much of this burden rests upon the shoulders of the poor and vulnerable. Further, environment has a far more pervasive implication for the nutrition than perhaps was evident earlier. It is in this context impact of environment on nutrition and health has a special relevance to Odisha. The envisaged objective of the OEC 2015 is to bring together academicians, activists, policy makers, industry and media houses to discuss, debate and deliberate on its impact on health and nutrition and come up with implementable solutions. The issue pertaining to the theme needs to be taken to larger public domain, specifically to the young masses, OEC 2015 plans out various other activities apart from invited paper presentations by experts/scientists and junior researchers on specific topics related to focal theme “Environment: Health and Nutrition” with relevance to Odisha.


  • To provide a platform for interaction among the researchers, policy makers and leading experts in the field of “Environment: Health and Nutrition” so that they come up with innovative and creative ideas which would help address key challenges emerging out of environmental impact on health and nutrition particularly in reference to in Odisha.
  • To enhance the networking between various research organizations, government and non government organizations working in the field of environment, health and nutrition and encourage them to work towards mitigating the challenges.
  • To generate specific knowledge base on impact of environment on health and nutrition.
  • To generate awareness about environmental impact on health and nutrition and come up with strategies based on scientific and rational approach involving different stock holders.
  • To offer an open forum community members to interact with scientific community.

Full papers with an abstracts (not exceeding 300 words) should be submitted in triplicate in A4 size paper together with soft copy. The paper should not exceed 6 pages (Times New Roman, 10point normal, 1.5 line space and with adequate margins) including figures table etc. Innovative posters are also invited on the theme. The size of the poster shall be 1mX1m and only one poster per person shall be allowed.


Odisha Environment Congress deliberated upon country and global evidences, researches, community practices and the gains achieved by the state over the decades on environment, health and nutrition. The Congress acknowledged the strong policy and political will and people’s participation in various programs.
